Nelda Hudson Harris was born to Fred Warren Hudson and Thelma Naomi Hicks Hudson.

Nelda was born in Three Rivers, Texas She grew up in the White Creek community. She attended the Mapes School in White Creek and the Three Rivers School, graduating from high school in 1950. After graduation she attended college in San Marcos, Texas.
Nelda married the love of her life, Edgle Harris, on July 04, 1951 in Ithica, Michigan. Edgle was building an oil pipeline there. They soon returned to White Creek and lived most of their lives there. Nelda was a Christian, having trusted in Jesus as a girl. She was baptized by the Simmons Baptist Church and was a member there until the White Creek Baptist Church was founded. She and Edgle were charter members of The White Creek Baptist Church. In addition to caring for and spending time with her family and her husband, Edgle, Nelda enjoyed reading, writing, singing, and participating in the services of the church. Her strong but sweet singing voice served her to the very end of her life. Nelda had many friends and cared deeply for her extended family. Her love for Edgle was strong throughout their sixty-one-year marriage.
Edgle went to be with the Lord shortly before Nelda.
