MONTEZUMA - Deacon Richard Dean Jantz, 64, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at his home in rural Montezuma.
He was born July 22, 1942, in rural Gray County, to Jacob A. and Lizzie Koehn Jantz.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Jantz was a farmer. He was a member of Homeland Mennonite Church in Montezuma.
On July 21, 1963, he married Beatrice E. Harms in Montezuma. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Clark and Jeff Jantz, and four daughters, Rhonda Koehn, Joan Koehn, Valerie Isaac and Sharon Schmidt, all of Montezuma; his stepmother, Dorothy Jantz of Montezuma; three brothers, Gary, James and Max Jantz, all of Montezuma; a sister, Karen Friesen of Ingalls; and 19 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Jon Jantz.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Homeland Mennonite Church, Montezuma, officiated by Donald Koehn and Luther Smith, ministers. Burial will be in Homeland Mennonite Church Cemetery, Montezuma.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Montezuma Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Dodge City Mennonite Mission, in care of the funeral home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.
