He was born on Peaks Island, son of Robert and Mina Duval Lade.
From 1934 to 1935, Mr. Lade served in the Army. He was also in the merchant marine, and for his war service received a citation from President Harry Truman and the Atlantic War Zone Bar.
In 1937, he married Alice Louise Ferguson. She died in 1993.
Mr. Lade was a truck driver and merchant seaman.
Surviving are three sons, Robert of South Portland, Richard of Portland and Walter of Windham; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Chase Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hay & Peabody, Portland.
