Franklin News-Herald, Friday Nov 26, 1982:
Earl D. Hazlett, 62, of 10 Taylor St., died at 11:05 am Thursday in the Franklin Hospital after being seriously ill the past few weeks. He was born Oct. 9, 1920 in Franklin, a son of Benjamin and Dana C. Abel Hazlett.

He lived here all his life and graduated from Franklin High School in 1938. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army with duty from July 28, 1942 to Oct. 10, 1945, on active duty in the European Theater with Company C, 60th Infantry, then a member of Company L, 112th Infantry, National Guard. He worked for the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. foundry for 22 1/2 years, retiring on a disability in 1969. He was an active member of the Franklin Post, American Legion, and was the current adjutant for the veterans organization, having held that position for several years; was a past commander of the Legion, had a special interest in the American Legion's 28th District activities and was both commander and adjutant of that group. He was a member of the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department.

On Aug. 27, 1954, he married Daisy I. Morrison, who survives, with two daughters, Mrs. James (Sharlenne Dianna) VanTassel of Franklin, and Mrs. Joey B. (Debra Kay) Barr of Rouseville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Barry D. (Frances Darlene) Johnston of Whittier, CA; a stepson, Robert James Lockhart of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald L. Hazlett of Wheatland and Robert L. Hazlett of St. Cloud, FL; a sister, Mrs. Clair (Marian) Hood of Sharon, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a son, Jerry Allen Hazlett; two brothers, Glenn and Freddie Hazlett, and a sister, Jane Hazlett.

Services will be at Huff Chapel with the Rev. John Sass Jr., pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Morrison Cemetery.
