William PHELPS, Jr. was the son of William PHELPS OF Crewkerne, Somerset, England and his first wife Mary (Marie)(surname unknown).
He sailed to America with his father and his second wife Anne DOVER Phelps and his siblings Samuel, Nathaniel and Joseph on Mary and John in 1630. They lived in Dorchester, MA. Five years later, his family moved to Windsor, Hartford Co., CT (it was originally Connecticut Colony).
William the younger married Isabel WILSON on 4 Jun 1645 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Connecticut. She died in June 1674. They had no children.
He married Sarah PINNEY 20 Dec 1676 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Connecticut, daughter of Humphrey PINNEY and Mary HULL. She was born 19 NOV 1648. They had no issue.
William lived next door to his parents (father and step-mother) William and Anne Dover Phelps in Windsor on East Street, Windsor, Hartford Co., CT. His house is still standing today, but his father's house was razed in 1960s, and the land on which the house stood was leveled and shoved back. The original cemetery is now Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
