"Maxim Gorky" was the name of the first of two Tupolev ANT-20 aircraft built by the Soviet Union, the largest airplane built in the 1930s. On May 18, 1935, the "Maxim Gorky" was on a demonstration flight over Moscow. During the flight one of three escort planes collided with the "Maxim Gorky" causing both planes to crash, killing all on board the two aircraft.
