Claire Rose Buckley, 70, beloved wife, mother and "Gigi" to three wonderful grandchildren, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center following a brief, intense battle with leukemia.

Following their return to Winston-Salem, Claire joined State Farm Insurance and celebrated her 30th anniversary as an agent on July 1 of this year. She was also a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and was known as an outgoing, kind, beach-loving person who loved spending time with her family and friends and driving her convertible. She will be remembered for her feisty spirit, compassionate heart, and wonderful sense of style and grace.

Claire was an avid tennis player and a member of three USTA tennis teams as recently as this spring. She was a USTA team captain for many years, a founding member and player at Visions Tennis Center, and helped lead her team to a state championship in 2010.
