Glenn was born August 11, 1936 in Houston, Texas, to Eugene and Glennie Buckley, who preceded him in death.
He was a 1960 graduate of the University of Texas. Following service in the United States Army, he began a 17-year career as an auditor with Shell Oil Company. Glenn met the love of his life, the late Claire Rose Buckley, in Houston. Together they lived in New Orleans, Atlanta, Richmond and Charlotte before returning to Claire's hometown of Winston-Salem.
Glenn later retired as president of Southern Fancy Foods in Winston-Salem. In retirement, he served as a tax preparer with H&R Block, and assisted Claire in her State Farm Insurance agency.
Both Glenn and Claire enjoyed traveling, and they took several trips to Europe together. Glenn developed a passion for cooking, and loved trying new recipes for his family.
Glenn is survived by his son Brenan, his wife Jamie, and their sons Ian and George; son Patrick, his wife Beth, and their daughter Ruth Claire.
The family will have a private service to remember Glenn. The family welcomes friends to the home Saturday, October 8 from 5pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 646 West Fifth Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27102; or to the Pulmonary Rehabilitation program at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, PO Box 571021, Winston-Salem, NC 27517-1021.
