Nell "Marie" Gambel, 90, of Collierville, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014. She was a member of Wells Station Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mrs. Gambel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas James Gambel. She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Sue and Dudley Deaton of Collierville; daughter in law, Lou Davis; sister, Kitty Holladay of Houlka, MS; grandchildren, Laverne Wright, Sheila Halstead, Stephanie Duncan, John Wayne Davis, Denise Cumberland, Emily Peyton, Garrison Deaton, Phillip Martin and Lori Martin; seventeen great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Wayne Lamar Davis; a daughter, Barbara Nell Martin; two sisters, Alva Sweeney and Elsie Wallace and a brother, Bill Davis. Her Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m., Friday afternoon, February 7 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens. Marie had a loving heart and gave faith-filled words of encouragement to each life she touched. God has blessed her with His priceless gift of peace. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
