Longtime Chester resident Clayton B. Beck passed from this life Tuesday morning, February 4, 2014 at Seneca Health Care District's Hospital at the age of 72.

Born New Years Day 1942 in Shasta, CA to the late Lyle and Omie (Franks) Beck he was raised in Hamilton City, CA before moving to Chico at the age of seven where he graduated from Chico High School as a member of the "Class of 1960".

Clay, as he affectionately became know, entered the Military and served in the U.S. Navy shortly out of high school. He returned to Chico following his discharge and in 1961 moved to the Northeastern California Lumber community of Chester where he began what became a forty year career with the Collins Family at their Chester Mill. He retired in the year 2001 as a Tallyman.

Clay was a longtime member of the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union Local 3074. He attended the Chester Baptist Church where he is a former Sunday School Teacher. Clay enjoyed the outdoors through fishing, was a talented leather craftsman and found pleasure in all types of art.

In passing Clay leaves his daughter, Shauna L. (Beck) Varner of Chester, CA; grandson, Kyle Varner; his twin brother, Eugene Debbs Beck and his wife Dorothy of Knoxville, TN; his nephews, Mike "George" Macintosh, Rodney and Mark Beck, and niece Debbie Beck.

He joins his late wife Sandra, who passed from this life in 2008, together in their eternal home.

He and Sandra McNeil married 1 June 1963 in Reno, Washoe County, Nevada, USA.
