Second of nine children. He married Rosa Emma Edwards his second cousin. They settled in King George County at Walnut Hill which came to him from his father. John & Rosa were the parents of 3 children:
Margaret Maria (Harryman) b. 7/22/1858 d. 1926.
Nancy Elizabeth born 4/10/1861 who died at 29 months in 1863.
George Arnold born 2/12,1863 d. 1933.
John enlisted on 8/25/1863 in Fredericksburg. He was a corporal in the 15th Va. Regimental Cavalry of the CSA. He died of wounds received at the 3rd attack at Brandy Station on October 11, 1863. Many of his family still reside in King George Co. John Arnold Edwards was the grandson of Capt. Wm Sommerville, a Revolutionary War veteran who settled in Martinsburg, Va. (now W. Va.).
