William D. Hutchison age 85, of Troy, Missouri and a former resident of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away 11:36 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, Missouri.

William was born November 24, 1928 in Cairo, Illinois a son of Delbert and Frances (Thomas) Hutchison. He married Peggy Ann Heskett on August 21, 1953 and she preceded him in death on May 15, 2010.

William was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in St. Peters, Missouri. He served his country in first in the United States Navy for eight years then in the United States Air Force until his retirement in 1968. He later worked for Hussmann Corp in Bridgeton, Missouri from which he retired in 1986.

Mr. Hutchison was survived by his children, Annetta Gerdel and husband William of Troy, Missouri, Patricia Smith and husband Ron of Foley, Missouri, Barbara Stubblefield and husband Craig of Fulton, Missouri, Teresa Kinnard and husband Doyle of Moscow Mills, Missouri, William Hutchison of Elsberry, Missouri, Robert Hutchison and wife Jacqueline of St. Charles, Missouri, and Tera Ary of Dellwood, Missouri; sister, Rita Schwake of Decatur, IL; and also 23 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and also five siblings.

Funeral mass will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon with the Very Rev. John C. Iffert VF officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 141 in Mt. Vernon. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.
