Jeanette Finley Jones peacefully passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 in her hometown of Lufkin. Jeanette, known as JJ to her friends, retired as Housekeeping Supervisor for Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. She was a standout tennis player at Lufkin High School and loved being on horseback.
After retirement she lived with her daughter in Memphis, Tennessee and for the last seven years in Bryan, Texas. Jeanette loved to travel and enjoyed reading. She always had a twinkle in her eye and loved being with friends and family. As a true Southern Belle, she made sure all of her accessories matched her outfit from jewelry, to shoes, to even the umbrella when it rained. Everyone enjoyed being around her and have many loving stories of her humor and her escapades. She had a big heart that included not only the people she loved by also feeding all types of wild animals.
Born September 17, 1927 to Henry and Bertie (Dixon) Finley, she is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Finley; and sister, Laverne Terrell.
Jeanette was the much loved mother of daughter, Linda (Jones) Roberts of Bryan and son, William T. Jones, Jr. of Dallas. She has three grandchildren, Brent Roberts and wife Siglinde of San Francisco, California, Jennifer Methvin and Justin Jones, both of Dallas, and great-grandchildren, Dakota, Brayden and Landry Methvin, all of Dallas.
She is also survived by her loving nieces, Brenda Back, Carolyn Bradford, Kim Norton, all of Lufkin, and Dorothy Armstrong of Atlanta, and long time friends, Julie Jones of Dallas, Bill Jones, Sr. of Hudson and Jana Pickett of Austin.
