Florence "Flossie" Whitney

Florence M. Whitney ("Flossie") age 73 passed away at home in Middletown, DE on Friday, January 31, 2014.
Flossie spent many years at home raising her children before she returned to work at Job Corp. of America. She spent the later part of her career working at the Thoroughbred Racing Protective Bureau where she made many long time friends including her closet friend, Cindy.
Flossie enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved pets, Toby and Snow. She enjoyed reading and crocheting as well as tending to her many orchids and plants.
She is predeceased by her parents James and Florence Tarasca, her brother Alexander Tarasca and grandchildren Mark and Abigail.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Chris (Linda) Whitney of Chula Vista, CA; Ron (Kelly) Whitney of Middletown with whom she lived; Stephanie Whitney of Carneys Point, NJ; Amy Kiefer and Jenna (Dave) Appleby both of Wilmington, DE and her grandchildren, Brandon, Hunter, Cameron, Nathan, Devyn and Brodie.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, DE 19709 from 10:00 - 11:00 am, her service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Puppy Rescue, P.O. Box 4, Hockessin, DE 19707 www.delawarepuppyrescue.org or the Delaware SPCA, 455 Stanton Christiana Rd, Newark, DE 19713.
