Betty Lou (Clagg) Pickle, 92, of McAlester, died Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in McAlester at a local nursing center.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery officiated by Rev. Rodney Briggs.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Cotton, John Wayne Clagg, Joe Bruce Clagg, Kevin Clagg, Brian Clagg, Jon Madden, and Justin Madden.
Betty was born on December 8, 1925 in Blocker to Jess and Dollie (Watts) Clagg. She graduated from Blocker school. Betty worked as a seamstress at Seamprufe and Komar before retiring in 1965.
She married John Kenneth Pickle June 25, 1965 in Durant and they moved to California. They returned to McAlester in 1981.
Betty enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She made baby blankets for the First Baptist Church Women’s Ministry. Betty was an active member of First Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school class treasurer and treasure of the WMU Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John K. Pickle on July 19, 1995; and brothers: Harvey Clagg, Lynn Clagg, J.C. Clagg, Glen Clagg, and Austin Clagg.
Survivors include her sons: Richard Cotton and wife, Carol of Krebs, Gary Cotton and wife, Bess of McAlester; grandchildren: Alan Cotton and wife, Stacy of Round Rock, Texas, Amy Cotton of Krebs, Valerie Anez and husband, Tom of Harrisburg, South Dakota; great-grandchildren: Allee, Jenna, and Landon; sister: Ruby Lee Sutton and husband, Cecil of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister-in-law: Janice Clagg; and other family members and friends.
