She was born March 12, 1914, in Wayne County, the daughter of Ebright and Iva Tacy Faber Austen, and married C. Russell Snyder. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She was a homemaker and had worked for Freedlander's Department Store, and was a member of Wooster United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and painting.
Surviving are sons Donald (Glenda) Snyder and Larry Snyder, both of Wooster; grandchildren Beth (Bryan Krebs) Snyder, Eric (Lisa) Snyder, Ashley Snyder, James Snyder and Jeffery Snyder; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Janet) Snyder of Leesburg; and a sister, Doris Whitemyer of Naples, Fla.
In addition to her husband, Gail was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ada Petralean, Treva Bruce, Cora Bruce, Nancy Shank; and brothers Emmett, Lloyd and Merle Austen.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, with the Rev. Dr. David Wilcox officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
