Olive J. Hanson, 82
Muncie - Olive J. Hanson, 82, died Tuesday evening in The Waters of Yorktown after a brief illness.
She was born in Muncie, the daughter of August and Mabel Worthen Haas, graduated from Central High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. While in the Navy, she was a control tower operator in Hawaii and California.
Mrs. Hanson was a bookkeeper and worked for several different companies in California. She received an associate degree in social services from the College of Marin in Kentfield. Calif.
She returned to Muncie in 1984, and was a bookkeeper for American Lawnmower until her retirement.
She was a member Minnetrista Cultural Center Artist Guild.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan McCollum (husband: David), Yorktown; two sisters, Norma Robbins (husband: Walter), Yorktown, and Wilma Lucas (husband: John, Jonesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Barbara Mock and Marjorie Van Couwengerghe.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary 4-7 p.m. Friday. There will be no services, and cremation will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The American Lung Association.
