OBITUARY - Phyllis Jean (Benzel) Goff October 15, 1926 ~ January 26, 2013 Phyllis Jean Goff was born to Oscar and Vyvian Hansen on October 15, 1926 in New Lisbon Wisconsin, and passed peacefully in Merced CA at the age of 86. Phyllis and her husband John W. Benzel moved to Bakersfield CA in February of 1948 where she resided until her move to Hayward CA in 2005. She worked as a secretary in many capacities to include the Kern County Water Agency, Boyle Engineering, Farm Bureau Public Relations, and Saint Marks Methodist Church. She also owned and ran a small publishing business out of her home where she typed, did layout, and printed newsletters for many agencies from 1966 thru 1968. Phyllis was active in the Girl Scouts where she led several different Troops, was a member of the Kern Medical Center Auxiliary, and was a lifetime member of the sorority Beta Sigma Phi. She was also an accomplished pianist and played for the Highland Meadow Ward Relief Society for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Barbara Benzel, husbands John W. Benzel and Paul W. Goff and brother Walter G. Hansen. She is survived by her daughter Diane Morris (Larry) of Bakersfield CA, daughter Kristen Zdanowski (Michael) of Atwater CA, son Phillip Benzel (Pattina) of Pleasanton CA, two step-daugthers, Donna Goff of Texas, Cheri Goff of Utah, and 11 Grandchildren. Services will be held at Mish Funeral Home Chapel, 120 Minner Ave in Bakersfield, on Friday February 1, 2013 at 12:00pm with internment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
