Freida Maxine (Lowe) Rezab, 84, of Mason City, Iowa and formerly of Plymouth, Iowa, died November 13, 2010 at the Heritage Care and Rehab Center in Mason City.
Freida Maxine Rezab was born on January 30, 1926 in Mason City to Charles Cecil Lowe and Cleo Anna* (Amsbough) Lowe. On October 3, 1947 she was united in marriage to Norman Rezab, in Mason City, and to this union six children were born. Family was very important to Freida. She enjoyed gathering the entire family for holidays and fixing a meal for everyone to enjoy. She was especially known for her Bohemian Dumplings. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her many friends. Freida was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Plymouth and was a very social and inviting woman; she enjoyed meeting her friends for morning coffee, as well as their lunch dates on Wednesday afternoons. Freida also loved flower gardening, birdwatching, fishing, crocheting, shopping, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Freida and Norman also enjoyed playing cards.
Freida was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; five brothers; and a grandson.
Freida was survived by her husband; her children, Linda (Rezab) Martin (and husband Robert), of Fort Madison, Jim Rezab (and wife Sandy), of Ankeny, Barb Rezab, Mason City, Carla (Rezab) Mikolajczyk (and husband John), of Montrose, John Rezab (and wife Susan Hanson), of Mason City, and Lisa (Rezab) Niemi (and husband Bill), of Valdosta, Georgia; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Ann (Olson) Lowe (widow of J. C.); many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation services were November 16 and 17, 2010, followed by a funeral service, on the 17th, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel of 126 3rd Street NE, Mason City, with the Reverend Wendy Johannesen officiating. Burial followed in the Bohemian Cemetery of Plymouth. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Iowa in Freida's name.
