Verna Walker Jones passed away peacefully November 22, 1993.
Born November 20, 1900 to Daniel H. and Minnie Baird Walker at Syracuse, Davis County, Utah. Grew up and attended elementary and high school in Davis County. Attended BYU before graduating with a B.S. degree from Utah State University. She pursued graduate work at both the University of Utah and University of Washington, Seattle. Member of Sigma Theta Phi, forerunner of Chi Omega Sorority. Member Phi U Home Economics Club and Art Club.

Verna married Mark A. Jones, May 9, 1942. Mark preceded her in death on June 16, 1986. Active in the Copperton LDS Ward, serving in several capacities. She enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. Verna particularly loved her special neighbors and friends in Copperton and the family wishes to thank all of them for their efforts.

The labor and love of Verna's life was teaching and she had great influence on hundreds of students. First at Price and Milford, Utah, but most of her 39 years of service were in the Jordan School District at Bingham High, and later at Hillcrest High School. In recognition of this service, Verna was honored in 1989 by Bingham High School. The Candlelight Service at Yule Award presented Verna with an award for her distinguished service to those hundreds of students.

Survived by two sisters, May W. Andrus, Provo; Ivy W. Woolley, Salt Lake City; brother, Frank D. Walker, Ogden; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services Friday, Nov. 26, 1993, at 1 p.m. in the Goff Mortuary Chapel, 8090 So. State, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Bingham High Alumni Foundation, 2160 West 10400 So., South Jordan, Utah 84095.
