Our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Afton Howard Hardy, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004 in Apache Junction, Arizona.

She was born May 25, 1907 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Melissa Hatch and Samuel C. Howard, and married to William D. Hardy August 10, 1925 in Evanston, Wyoming, Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

A multi-talented woman, Afton played both the piano and violin in her younger years. Later, she developed an excellence in tatting and contracted much of her beautiful work to Mormon Handicraft. Also gifted in giving readings she had a special talent for using the appropriate dialect for greater interest.

Afton was preceded in death by her husband, William, whose work caused them to live in Bountiful, Denver, Omaha and Chicago where they left a trail of wonderful friends. She is survived by her four children Joyce Greenhalgh of West Valley, Utah; Merrill D. and Betty Hardy of St. George, Utah; Darwin and Jeanette Hardy, San Jacinto, California, and Carma Jean and Gary Yancey of Portland, Oregon; 24 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sat., June 5, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. Friends and family may attend a viewing from 12:00-12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
