Nora B. “Granny” Rose, 97, of Batesville, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, in a Batesville hospital.

Born April 2, 1906, in Cooper, Texas, she was the daughter of Lynn Jerome Gillmore and Nancy Jane Young Gillmore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Ileana Lundy of Batesville; two brothers, Bill Gillmore and R.J. Gillmore, both of Batesville; a sister, Josie Crabtree of Batesville; three granddaughters, Johnnie Nichols of Alabama, Margie Manuel and Rose Mary Hansen, both of Batesville; four great-grandchildren, Brad Manuel of Beaumont, Texas, Wesley VonWiller of Batesville, Jason Manuel of Newark and Joanna Currington of Alabama; and five great-great-grandchildren, Nicholas Currington and Zachery Currington, both of Alabama, Melody Manuel and James Manuel, both of Batesville, and Hannah Manuel of Newark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C.W. Rose; an infant son; and two brothers, L.J. Gillmore and John Gillmore.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church with Daniel J. Nichols officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers are Ellis Wells, Bill Coe, Kenny Turner, Jody Hix, Roger Whitener and Clifford Wright.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bill Waldrip, Welsey VonWiller, Brad Manuel, Jason Manuel, Alvin Currington, Jimmy Huskey, Greg Graham, Jerry Brashers, Bill Hansen and Ronnie Manuel.
