Jackson Thomas Adams, age 12, of rural Harrisburg, died Friday, January 31, 2014, at his home.
Born in Jonesboro, Jackson lived in Jonesboro before moving to Poinsett County in 2007. He was a seventh grader and a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro where he was a member of One Student Ministry youth group.
Jackson was a member of Poinsett County 4-H Shooting Team, Lacy's Welding Baseball Team and Moore Agri Baseball Team. He was an avid outdoorsman thoroughly enjoying fishing, deer hunting and duck hunting. Jackson enjoyed working with his Ford 1210 tractor and for years rode horses as a hobby before having to curtail that activity due to debilitating arthritis.
Jackson loved children and got a huge thrill in seeing others come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He also enjoyed raising money for the Arthritis Foundation and spending leisure time with best friends Leo Tharp, and Jessie and Jeremiah Walton. Jackson was preceded in death by his great grandparents: Clyde Bolding, Otis Willey, Jessye T. and Vada Adams, Nelson and Mable Blasingame Waters.
Survivors include his parents: Tommy and Leslie Willey Adams of the home; His sister, Madison Adams of the home; Grandparents: Wayne and Linda Willey of Jonesboro and Tommy and Joyce Adams of Harrisburg; Great grandmothers: Norma Bolding and Dorothy Willey both of Jonesboro; Aunts and Uncles: Matt and Julia Willey and Ken and Paula Robertson all of Jonesboro, and John and Pam Pugh and Chris and Tina Adams all of Harrisburg; and Cousins: Jeff Pugh of Little Rock, Zach Adams of Harrisburg, Morgan and Madison Beal of Fayetteville, McKenzie and Mason Burnett of Jonesboro and Brennan Willey of Memphis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Central Baptist Church with Dr. Archie Mason and Blake Ligon officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers include Nathan Wright, Brian Carter, Randall Stanford, George Jackson, Dr. Chris Rowlett, Joe Lacy and Derek Walton. Honorary pallbearers include Jessie Walton, Jeremiah Walton, Joseph Giles, Leo Tharp and members of the Lacy's Welding Baseball team, Moore Agri Baseball team, Poinsett County 4-H Shooting team and the Boy's 7th grade Sunday school class at Central Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
