Lynched
Gatesville, Tex.-Sept. 26 On last Friday night Jesse Green was taken out of his house and hanged by a mob. His place is situated in the northeast corner of the county near the Hamilton line. Green had lived in that section a number of years, being a nephew of the more famous Bill Babb, and at one time a member of Babb's party. He lived in the backwoods and had no steady occupation to speak of. The mob was quiet and made little demonstration. Up to last night Green's body was still hanging.

Letter from Eugene Babb:
"Late one night a group of armed riders came to the house and took Jesse away for no apparent reason. When he did not return after a few hours his wife took the baby and started walking toward the main ranch house. Some distance down the road/path she came across his body hanging from a tree. They had lynched him. Bill BABB, his son William Isaac (Bill Ike) and some of the trusted ranch hands literally went on the warpath and did not stop until every man in the lynching party was hunted down and shot dead."
