Miss Jewel Polk, who lived in Wellington with her family for many years, died Tuesday, February 6, in Tempe, Arizona, where she had lived since 1965.

She had been in ill health about two years.

Miss Polk was an office nurse for the late Dr. Clifton E. High for 29 years, first in Wellington, then at Pampa, where he had his practice for a long period. She retired in 1959 and lived in Amarillo for a few years before moving to Tempe.

A native of Merkel, she was born July 31, 1901.

She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Tempe and of the Tempe Women's Club.

Surviving Miss Polk are four brothers and five sisters: Herman Polk of Delores, CO; Dock Polk of Austin; Tommie Polk of Seligman, AZ; Robert Polk of Tempe: Mrs. Lena Adams of Arlington; Mrs. G. D. Mullins of Houston; Mrs. Lois James and Mrs. Lucy Johnson of Amarillo, and Mrs. Ken Davis of Dallas.
