Nita J. Davis, age 50, of Baldwin, passed away at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Nita was born in Detroit, October 17, 1960 to James and Priscilla (Brown) Wetherell. Nita worked in public education as a teachers aide, was a loving wife and mother. Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, Ivan J. Davis Jr.; son, Ivan Davis the III, White Cloud; daughter, Kerry Ann Davis, Baldwin; mother- in-law, Murial Davis; sisters, Chris Wetherell, Holland, Laurie (Otto) Miller, Reed City; brothers, Robert Wetherell, Baldwin, Marty Wetherell, Chase, David and Jason Wetherell, both of Tustin. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Sandy Davis; brother-in-law, Steve Davis; step-dad, Jack Shimel, Tustin; nine step-brothers and sisters; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Priscilla, brothers James Wetherell, Larry Wetherell; and father-in-law, Ivan Davis Sr. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 with visitation prior at 10 a.m. at the Baldwin Congregation Church, Pastor Vern Powers officiating, a luncheon to follow. The family asks that donations be made to American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge, Grand Rapids, MI. Arrangements were entrusted to Verdun Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Baldwin.
