He was a member of Hodgenville United Methodist Church, an Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era, retired supervisor for Gates Rubber Company in Elizabethtown and a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Ruby Whitlow Hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Weston Hunter; a daughter, Kim (Rodney) Strange; a son, Gary (Kelly) Hunter; five grandchildren, Megan (Billy) Thompson, Jordan Strange, Bethany Hunter, Natalie Hunter and Melissa Grant; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Bella, Skyler and Shianne Thompson and Macy Strange; and four sisters, Dolores Hahn, Yvonne (Ray) McDowell, Wanda (John) Poteet and Sharon (Rondal) Wright.
Burial in Buffalo Cemetery.
