Richard "Dick" Oliver York, 89, of Anaconda (Fairmont Hot Springs), Montana, passed away on Jan. 25, 2017, of natural causes.
Interment will occur at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura, California, at a later date.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Gloria York.
Dick was born in Beloit, Kansas on Oct. 9, 1927, to Andrew and Ethel York. He graduated from Whittier High School, Whittier, California.
Dick served in the Navy from 1944 to 1948.
Dick's main career was in the health care industry. He started this career in Ojai, California as the Executive Director for Grey Gables and the Acacias Nursing Home. While in Ojai, Dick was instrumental in the expansion of the Acacias Nursing Home and the development of the offices for the National Retired Teachers Association and American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) National Membership offices. Dick later took the position of Director of Education for the American Association of Homes for the Aging in Washington, DC. His career took him many places including Houston and Galveston, Texas, Palm Springs and Long Beach, California, and finally, Butte, Montana where he was the administrator of Butte Park Royal Convalescent Center. While in Montana, Dick was the founding president of the Montana Chapter of the American College of Health Care Professionals.

Upon retirement from the Health Care Industry, Dick and Gloria purchased the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store in Butte, Montana and operated it until Montgomery Wards closed their stores.

Dick was Past President of Lions International, Ojai, California and was vice president of the Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce along with positions in other service organizations.

Dick is survived by his sons, California; brother, four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; plus other family and friends.
