Sara Ellen Jones Parker, age 88, of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014.
Mrs. Parker was born in Lexington, MS, and grew up in Tchula. She was married in 1950 and moved to the Coast in 1960 with her family. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Gulfport, where she lovingly served as church secretary for 35 years before retiring in 2000. She was active in many church programs and enjoyed playing bridge at the Marriot and Gulfport Yacht Club. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Yates Parker, and her parents, William Byrd and Vines Smith Jones.
She is survived by her children, Carl Yates Parker, Jr. and Paula King (Cummings); and grandchildren, Cady and Carly King, all of Gulfport.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Gulfport, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior.
Private burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
