Joshua Alan Fritz, the son of Marshall William and Karen Ann (Carlson) Fritz, was born April 3, 1982 in Council Bluffs, IA and died February 1, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident west of Carson, IA, at the age of 31 years, 9 months, and 29, days.

Joshua graduated from Riverside High School with the class of 2000. After graduation, he enlisted in the National Guard where he served until 2008. While in the Guard he was stationed in Afghanistan from 2004-2005 during Operation Enduring Freedom. On February 14, 2008 he was united in marriage to Melissa Ann Miller in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in Lyman, Macedonia, and Carson, before buying a house in Oakland.

Joshua was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland. He loved farming and being around farm animals. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. His biggest joy was being with his son Clayton.

Joshua is preceded in death by his great grandparents and his great grandparents-in-law.

He is survived by his wife Melissa and his son Clayton, both of Oakland; his father Marshall Fritz of Omaha, NE; his mother Karen Fritz of Greenfield, IA; his sister Jaime of Treynor, IA; his brother Jeremy Fritz of Marysville, MO; his father-in-law and mother-in-law William "Bill" Miller and Leesa Miller of Shenandoah, IA; his grandparents, Willard and Marilyn Fritz of Oakland, IA and Dale and Anna Carlson of Hartford, SD; his brothers-in-law, Chris Porter of Thurman, IA, and Fred Miller of Red Oak, IA; his nieces Haleigh and Mahria; and his nephew Jackson. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
