Kelly Wade McKinney, 68, of Pacolet, SC, passed away suddenly Friday, January 31, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born March 16, 1945 in Spruce Pine, NC, he was the son of the late Texie Lowery McKinney.


A veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Acousti Engineering, Charlotte, NC, he loved fishing, boating, and golf. He loved his country and enjoyed the AmVets on Southport Road where he shared laughs with other veterans.


He was the husband, first love, and companion of his wife, Linda Bodford McKinney. Also surviving are sons, Kelly Wayne McKinney, Keith Pennington, Billy J. McKinney, and Jason Scott McKinney; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Darrel McKinney and Jerry McKinney. He was predeceased by sister, Nell McKinney and brother, Lewis McKinney.


Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at M. J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Drive, Anderson, SC 29621.
