Bushman was born about 1745.He was the slave of Nathaniel Ely,Sr of Springfield,MA.He was freed by Ely on 21 Mar 1769 and given a piece of land.Bushman married Flora Parry 7 Feb. 1778 in West Springfield,MA.Flora was a slave of Rev. Joseph Perry of Windsor,Ct.Bushman was responsible to pay $100 worth of wheat to get her freedom.Bushman married again to Chloe of Stafford,CT.
