Benson, Anna Adele (nee Zardiackas), 94, went to be with her Lord on March 24, 2013. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on November 18, 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband Karl Benson, also of Massachusetts, her parents Anna and Kastantas Zardiackas, two sisters, Josephine Zardiackas and Aldona Gentile, and four brothers, John, Gus, Eddie and George Zardiackas.

Anna Benson was the ever strong New England woman of World War II. While her fiancé was in Italy she worked on the home front as a seamstress in Boston and Rockland, Massachusetts. She often laughed about working on one of General Patton's coats, only to have him never pick it up. Karl and Anna married on August 4, 1945, in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts and made their home there, raising a son Kenneth, and a daughter Valerie Teribury. In April 1966, they moved to Chesterfield, Missouri, where they lived and retired.

Anna loved to dance. She met her husband ballroom dancing and they continued to dance throughout life together all over the Midwest. She loved her husband, her children, their children, and their children's children. She was never happier than when caring for her family. She took her natural love of cooking and caring into the Parkway School District in Chesterfield where she worked for over 20 years administering their food service program.

She was a member of Manchester United Methodist Church for 45 years, as well as the Daughters of the Nile and Temple Club, auxiliary organizations of the Moolah Shrine Temple Guides, of which her husband was a member. She continued this association for 15 years after his death in honor of his memory.

She was an independent woman; a strong woman; a woman who lived life on her own terms, always maintaining that strong New England independent air. She died much the same way.

God loved you, mother, as did we. We will miss you.

Services: Funeral service at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. Interment Bellerive Cemetery. True to her nature, in lieu of flowers, she would request contributions be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2001 S Lindbergh Boulevard, St. Louis, MO. [email protected] or 1-800-241-4438. Visitation Friday 4-8 p.m. Friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.
