The Second Bishop of the Ukrainian Eparchy of Toronto, Monsignor Cornelius John Pasichny OSBM., was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on March 27, 1927, and entered the Order of St. Basil the Great in 1942. Taking his solemn vows in 1948, he was ordained to the priesthood in Rome on July 5, 1953.

Returning to Canada in 1954, he obtaining a masters of philosophy from St. Paul's University, Ottawa two years later and was successively assigned to the Basilian House of Studies at the Mundare Monastery where he taught philosophy to the scholastics and served as parish priest of the Krakow and Borschiv areas. Interim pastor of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic church in Ottawa, from 1958 until 1959, that year he was named vicar of the Mundare Monastery where he taught Latin, Church Slavonic and Ukrainian history to the Basilian students.

Known for his love of the Ukrainian language and culture and music, he served various pastoral and administrative charges in the Canadian Basilian Province of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, such as provincial consultor and bursar, and editor of the English-language periodical "Beacon." From 1981 he served as spiritual director at the newly-established Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Seminary. After 43 years away from his native Winnipeg, in 1985 his superiors assigned him to serve as parish priest of his home parish of St. Nicholas.

Appointed Bishop of the Ukrainian Eparchy of Saskatoon by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 1995, he received his episcopal consecration on January 17, 1996, in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Winnipeg, from Archbishop Michael Bzdel CSSR., assisted by Bishops Basil Filevich and Severian Stefan Yakymyshyn OSBM. On July 1, 1998, he was appointed Ukrainian Eparchial Bishop of Toronto and Eastern Canada.

Retiring from Office on May 3, 2003, during his episcopate, Bishop Pasichny served on of the former CCCB Commission for Ecumenism between 1996 and 1997, and the former Commission for Theology from 1997 until 1999.

Bishop Pasichny passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014, aged 86. Funeral services were held in Toronto beginning on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 7.00 pm., at St. Nicholas church, with Parastas. Services continued on Wednesday, February 5, at 10.00 am., at the same church with the Divine Liturgy. On February 7, at 10.00 am., at St. Nicholas church, Winnipeg, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated, followed by burial at Holy Family Cemetery.
