Dorothea Eckel, daughter of Jacob Eckel & Maria Christina Korn, was the 2nd of 10 children. The family emigrated when she was just turning 7, and she grew up in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. She married Adam Apple on 5 Jul 1856 in New Berlin, Waukesha, Wisconsin before making their home together in Norway Twp., Racine, Wisconsin. They had 8 children together--Ellen C., Adam Jr., Josephina, Anna, Andrew Johnson, Charles Edwin, Harold W., and Florence Barbara. Her husband was a Wisconsin State Senator, and he predeceased her in 1905.
