Passing of Mrs. John B. Boucher
There passed away on Thursday last, October 30th, in the township of Huntley, one of the most respected residents of the community in the person of Ellen Jane Colbert, widow of the late John B. Boucher. She was born at Hazeldean 83 years ago and lived there practically all her life, until a few years ago, when she moved to Huntley with her daughter, Mrs. George C. Acres. She was well known in the surrounding community and was loved by all who knew her. She was a very active member of the Methodist Church and attended services regularly until her health prevented. To her were born ten children, eight of whom survive. She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Miss Lizzie Colbert of North Wakefield; four daughters, Mrs. John Hartin of Stittsville, Mrs. John R. Colbert of Victoria, B. C., Mrs. Robert Hand of Hazeldean, and Mrs. George C. Acres of Huntley; four sons S. R. Boucher of Carp, Sidney C. and Horace L. Boucher of Leney, Sask., and Hillery M. Boucher of Bell’s Corners. She also leaves 56 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, service being conducted at the house by Rev. R. C. Eakin of Carp who spoke very highly of the deceased. It was very largely attended by friends and relatives from a distance. Interment was made in Maple Grove Cemetery, Hazeldean. The pallbearers were six grandsons of deceased, Eddie Logan, Ernest Hand, Clifford Hartin, John Boucher, Jonnie Hand and Everette Armstrong. The floral offerings included the following: Wreaths, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Boucher and family, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Boucher and family, Mr.and Mrs. Walter Colbert and family, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Colbert and family, Mr. Roy Colbert, Mr. James Hand and family; sprays, Mrs. J. R. Colbert, Myrtle, Mrs. George Morris, Miss Lizzie Colbert, Mr. Sam Boucher and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Hartin and family, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Acres and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hand and family. Mr. and Mrs. Hillery Boucher and family; baskets, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Armstrong and Eddie Logan. Much sympathy is extended to the family in their sad bereavement.
