Mr. Bassett passed away Monday morning at West Place in Athens. He was born in Comanche, Tx. to the late Clarence C. and Mary E. (Brooks) Bassett. and was preceded by his wife Ollie Mae Bassett, one brother and two sisters

Mr. Bassett worked for many years in construction as a carpenter. Mr. Bassett was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Cedar Hill.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Karen Bassett of Athens: daughter, Patricia Dover of DeSoto: brother Calvin B. Bassett, five Grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Friday at the Red Oak Funeral Home. The Celebration of life will be 2:00 PM Saturday December 27, 2008 at Red Oak Funeral Home Chapel With Rev. Billy Hackler Officiating with interment following in the Red Oak Cemetery
