CONNIE J. GRAY, age 57, of Marion and formerly of Mount Gilead, died peacefully Friday morning, January 31, 2014, at the Morningview Pointe Care Center following an extended illness.

On January 18, 1957, Connie was born in Princeton, West Virginia, the daughter of Joanne (Williams) Gray Crabtree Nelson and the late Franklin Delno Gray.

For over ten years, Connie was proud to serve as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Connie's favorite pastime was fishing. She loved to go camping, as long as there was a body of water nearby. She was also an "animal lover", who enjoyed the deer that made daily visits to the feeder. She is survived by "Frankie" her pet cockatiel of 30 years.

She will be remembered for her beautiful smile.

She will be missed by her two children: Angelina (Richard Lane) Roberts, and Chester (Kelly) Shuster; five grandchildren: Cheyenne and Jesse Lane, and Chayton and Tyler Shuster, and Myranda Meachem; a great-granddaughter, Makaylee Gay; a step-daughter, Carla Thompson; her mother, Joanne Nelson, all of Marion; a sister, Loretta (Marguerite Winslow) Knapp of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a brother, Kevin Crabtree, of Marion.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center Street, Marion, with Hospice Chaplain Pamela Lamb-Hart officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to her family and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
