PATRICK FOGARTY - One of the very oldest residents of Cambridge, Mr Patrick Fogarty, aged 74 years, passed away yesterday morning at the residence of his sister, Mrs Hansen (sic) of Auckland. The late Mr Fogarty was identified with Cambridge since its earliest days and was in business in a large way as a carrier and contractor. About eighteen months ago failing health compelled him to give up business and live in retirement. He was unmarried and his straightforward life can be best summed up in the phrase that "he was one of nature's gentlemen" which he surely was. The funeral will leave the Cambridge railway station to-day on the arrival of the afternoon train, and will proceed to the Cambridge cemetery." Waikato Independent, volume xx, issue 2345, 18 December 1920, page 4.
