LORAIN - Madeline M. Botts, (nee McCrosky), 88, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Anchor Lodge Retirement Village in Lorain following a long illness.

Mrs. Botts was born in Clendenin, W.Va. on October 18, 1925, the daughter of the late J. P. "Odd" and Rosa Jane (nee Harper) McCroskey. She had been employed in the cafeteria at Anchor Lodge prior to her retirement.

She enjoyed watching "The Young And The Restless" on TV and listening to George Jones' recordings. The most influential person in her life is her best friend Barb Schmidt. They traveled to church and gospel concerts together. Her most treasured memory is spending time with her friend, Barb and that friendship prompted her advice to the younger generation - "Always cherish your good friends." Something extra special about Madeline is that she enjoyed the company of others.

She is survived by sons Thomas (Abba) Escue of Georgia, Charles M. "Mike" (Pamela) Asseff, Johnny R Escue, Sr. all of Lorain, David J. (Robin) Escue, Sr., of Akron, Ohio and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Denver Escue, her second husband George H Botts, brothers Holly Holbert, Clyde Holbert, Earl Holbert, Rev. H. H. Holbert and a sister Noni Chambers.

Friends may call on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Kiel Nunn, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sheffield Lake, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
