George Hoey was the son of James and Rachel Hayes Hoey and the husband of Anne Eliza Hoey. He enlisted during the Great War, and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles. He was killed in battle while apparently attempting a rescue of another soldier.
