William E. Briggs William E. Briggs, 82, of Shade Gap, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the Fulton Co. Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Born December 11, 1931, in Dublin Twp., Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Robert and Verna (Locke) Briggs. He was married to the former Thelma I. Mentzer on August 20, 1952, at Burnt Cabins. Mrs. Briggs survives at their home. Also surviving are five children, Kathy Reed and her husband Willis of Shirleysburg, Judy Dell of Shippensburg, Vicky McCormick and her husband Donald of Fort Loudon, Denise Cisney and her husband Allen of Shade Gap, and William R. Briggs and his wife Polly of Blairs Mills. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Betty Blough of West Virginia, Patricia Knepper and her husband Jim of Chambersburg, and Gary Briggs of Chambersburg; one brother, Jerry Briggs; and one grandson, preceded in death. Mr. Briggs was employed as a truck driver for over thirty years and was last employed by Dublin Twp., Fulton County. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA, with the Rev. Julia Piper officiating. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, RD, Shade Gap. Friends may call at the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
