EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Virginia Evans deTreville entered into rest January 8, 2014. She was born in Dublin, Georgia, on March 3, 1916, to Thomas W. Evans and Willie Thigpen Evans, both originally from Washington County, Georgia. She graduated Cum Laude from Girls High School in Atlanta. As a student of Dorothy Alexander, she was a member of the first Atlanta Ballet. She was a graduate, also Cum Laude, of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where she was elected to several honor societies including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. She was a member of several lineage societies including Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, the XVII Century, Magna Charter Dames; local organizations included Augusta-Richmond County Historical Society, Augusta Genealogical Society, and Augusta Museum of History. She earned a Masters Degree at Emory University in Atlanta. In Augusta, she served as Chief of Adult Service at the Augusta Public Library and retired as a librarian at Augusta State University. Her husband, the late Major T. P. deTreville, USAF, ret, and son of Theodore E. deTreville, preceded her in death.
