Clarence Robert Hoffman, formerly of Harlingen, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Knopp Healthcare and Rehab, Fredericksburg Tx at the age of 88.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil Wilhelm and Clara (Fischer) Hoffman, his loving wife of 62 yrs, Lou Ella (Palmer) Hoffman, brother, B.W. (Pete) Hoffman, sister, Loreta Belle (Reta) Hansen and Son-in-Law, Regan H. McMinn, Jr.

He is survived by his children, Carol Wilkes and husband Wayne, from Lubbock, Patricia McMinn from Fredericksburg and Melvin Hoffman and wife Shawnna from Flower Mound, his grandchildren, Tammy Williams and husband Patrick, from Pipe Creek, Regan H. McMinn III from Cedar Creek, Katherine Abegg, from Brooklyn NY, Cari Hoffman, from Flower Mound, Misty Heisser, from Lubbock, Beth Buckalew and husband Mark, from Midland, Sam Scarborough and wife Hannah from Denver, Co., and great grandchildren Lauren, Jacob, and Noah Williams, Taylor McMinn, Holden Heisser, Hunter and Kensey Buckalew.

Clarence graduated in 1942 from Harlingen High School and then served in the US Navy on the USS Smalley during WWII.

He retired from Brown & Root in 1980 and previously worked for the Harlingen Police Dept., Texas Dept. of Public Safety and other locations. He was active in the Masonic Lodge.

He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved animals and was an avid bird watcher. His favorite hobby was building furniture and other wood projects for his family, friends and church.

Clarence was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and helped at the church with building projects, repairs and maintenance.

Graveside service and interment will be held at Mont Meta Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 1:00pm with Jay Cawthon officiating.
