Virginia L. Carney, 94, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Country Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM, Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

Virginia was born on April 6, 1919 in Melbourn, Missouri, the daughter of Jess and Elizabeth Ann (Chaney) Terhune. She married Thomas Carney on October 14, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1989.

Virginia loved playing cards with the ladies at Brookside, gardening, and cooking. She especially loved her family. Virginia was previously active at CASI, Friendly House, and a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Catfish Jazz.

Those left to honor her memory include special friend who made her life so special, George Turnquist; daughters, Joanne Wilson, Karen (Dennis) Gaddey, and Linda (Thomas) Mack; grandchildren Pam, Jill, Ron, Debbie, Nikki, Aaron, and Jeremy; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; and sister Caroline Jennisch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law Ron Wilson.
