NEW OXFORD Lloyd D. Keefer, 92, formerly of Hanover, died at 6:15 p.m. on August 22, 2010, at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. He was the beloved husband of Florence M. (Lehigh) Keefer, who passed away in 1971. A funeral service in celebration and thanksgiving for his life will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 9002 Orchard Rd., Spring Grove, with elders Merle Bievenour and Steven Fodor officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service next to his wife in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Family services are entrusted to Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Spring Grove. Lloyd was born in Tyrone Md., on April 16, 1918, and was the son of Guy Keefer and Mary (Waybright) Keefer. He worked for American Chain and Cable in York for many years and was a longtime member of The Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his son, David E. Keefer of Abbottstown; his daughters, Esther M. Raush of Lancaster and Martha L. Bubb of New Oxford. He is also survived by seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
