WINGDALE - Clarence E. Johnson, 71, operator of the disposal plant at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center until his retirement in 1972, died Friday at New Milford (Conn) Hospital.

Mr. Johnson of Route 55, had been a resident of the community since 1923.

He was a member of the Dover Masonic Lodge and Wingdale Methodist Church.

He was the zoning administrator of the Town of Dover at the time of his death.

Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 18, 1911 in Auburn Ky, the son of Clarence and Mary L. Rogers. He attended the U. S. Army Military Academy at West Point.

He married Dorothy Gladys "Dolly" Culton on April 27, 1935 in Elkton, MD.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Johnson is survived by three daughters; Phyllis, Dorothy and Beverly, seven grandchildren and a great grandson.
