Bangor Daily News, June 3, 1918:
OLD TOWN, June 2, -Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bussell of Milford were instantly killed, Saturday noon when their automobile was struck on the Maine Central grade crossing near their home on the Call Road.
The Crossing is somewhat blind and it appears that Mr. Bussell drove directly in front of the St. John, westbound express due in Bangor at 12:55, the carbing demolished by the impact and both Mr. and Mrs. Bussell were dead when picked up, having been thrown some distance.
A neighbor saw them approaching in their automobile just as the train came around the curve but was unable to warn them in time to prevent the accident.
Mr. and Mrs. Bussell have made their home in Milford several years where Mr. Bussell was filer in the upper mill of the Jordan Lumber Co., and has many friends who regret to learn of the sudden and tragic death.
Mr. Bussell was a member of the I.O.O.F lodge, and is survived by one nephew. Mrs. Bussell is survived by two brothers, Moses L. Jordan and Harvey Jordan of Old Town and one sister Mrs. Eva Jordan of Washington, D.C., formerly of this city.
The remains of Mr. and Mrs. Bussell were taken to their late home in Milford where funeral serviced will probably be held Tuesday afternoon but which will be announced later.
