Virginia Webb Curtis, 95, of Hillsboro passed away September 9, 2016 in Harlingen. Funeral services will be held September 12, 2016 in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery.
Virginia was born in Peoria February 19, 1921 to Tom Henry and Vera Jordan Webb. She was a child of the Great Depression, learning to be frugal and to be thankful for whatever God provided for her and her family. She graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Hillsboro Junior College.
On October 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Percy Lee Curtis. She and Percy farmed near Mountain Springs, east of Hillsboro. Virginia not only helped on the farm during harvest season, but also found time to volunteer with the PTA, her church, and later worked at the Hillsboro Clinic Hospital. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, having served for a time as church secretary at First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro. Her philosophy was helping others throughout her life. She was never happier than being surrounded by her children, her grand children, and in later years her great-grand children.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Percy Lee Curtis on August 13, 1997 and daughter, Carol Jean Curtis.
