Tyler W. Gray

PLATTSBURGH -- Tyler W. Gray, 86, of Algonquin Park Road on Cumberland Head, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on March 28, 1914, the son of Elmer and Aurora (Bouvier) Gray.

He married Marian K. McCurry in Fort Edward on June 21, 1938. Mrs. Gray died Sept. 3, 1995.

Mr. Gray was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church. He belonged to the Boy Scouts of America and was one of the two first Eagle Scouts in Clinton County. Tyler worked at the Dannemora prison for ten years and later worked for 30 years as a professional engineer on Long Island, retiring in 1972 from the NYS Office of General Services.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tyler and Lesley Gray of Bloomington, Ill. and James and Marlene Gray of Latham; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Thomas Fleming of Cumberland Head, Susan and John Morrison of Brightwaters and Nancy and Jay Fischer of Watertown, Conn. and Cumberland Head; one sister, Evangeline Payson of Plattsburgh; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

One great-grandchild, Matthew Tyler Brault, died Dec. 30, 1991.

There will be no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2000, at St. Mary's of the Lake Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery followed by a reception at 186 Algonquin Park Road. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America and the Alzheimers Association.
